How To Add a Device to the Network (Student)
From the Student Handbook:
Students can connect most devices to the school’s wireless network; however, not all IoT devices are compatible with enterprise-grade wireless networks. Some devices may be denied access to the school’s wireless network if they pose a security risk, cause wireless interference, or are determined to be disruptive to others in the community. Devices restricted from the network include but are not limited to: smart light bulbs/LED lights, smart appliances/locks, alarm clocks, virtual assistants/voice-controlled devices, robots, smart plugs, weather stations, universal remotes, dash buttons, wireless music systems, and any audio and/or video recording devices including doorbell/surveillance devices (e.g. Sonos, Google Nest, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomePod, etc.). Before bringing recreational, entertainment, or IoT devices to campus, students are encouraged to contact the Technology Department to determine if they are supported on the school’s network.
This guide explains how to connect devices that don't have username and password input options to the network. It covers items such as gaming consoles, smart TVs, and similar devices.
To add a device to the wifi follow these steps:
Please go to this URL: https://network-login.holderness.org/guest/auth_login.php
Enter your username and password - the username is the first part of your email address and the password is your wifi password. (e.g. jdoe25 pw: 123ABC)
-
Once logged in you will see the following screen:
Enter the MAC address of the device - this is the hardware address and looks similar to this - A4:D8:C6:8F:77:07
Please input the device's name. You can opt for something straightforward, such as "Joe's Xbox." However, ensure it's descriptive enough for easy identification of the device.
Feel free to include any notes you'd like, but they are not mandatory.
Check off the box “I am the owner of this device…”
Click “Create”

Once created you should see a similar screen:

You can now join that device to HolderAccess
